MedRevue2024 Rules

  • Video submissions should be between 1-5 minutes (+/- 10%) in length.

  • Individuals, or teams of up to 10 members may enter a video submission.

  • Individuals may enter multiple video submissions, which will be judged separately.

  • If a large volume of entries is received a short-listing process may be undertaken to limit the number of submissions shown at the live event. If this occurs the same judges that will judge the live event will also select the final entries for the event.

  • Not all team members need to appear in the video submission and may contribute in other ways such as script writing, directing, filming, editing, costume and set design, graphics, and so forth.

  • Any manner of film editing, animations, graphics, sound engineering, and so forth of video submissions is allowed.

  • Any music or added content in video submissions must not breach copywrite laws. Please use original material or material that is available under creative commons licences or similar.

  • Participants must remember their professional capability responsibilities and do not create content that breaches these responsibilities. Don’t submit content that could be construed as bullying, or harassment, or include discriminatory, racist, sexist, or other inappropriate themes.

  • Videos will be judged on aspects such as humour, entertainment, relatability to medical students and a wider audience, quality of production and filming, and use of music, graphics, or animation.

  • Submissions should be uploaded to YouTube as a private video and the URL submitted via the submission form on the website.

  • Competition entry is free and open to all current Doctor of Medicine (MD) students at Macquarie University (MQ). Non-MD students are not permitted to enter the competition or appear in video submissions.

  • Profanity can be used with caution, but it will be beeped out in a comical way by the committee members.

  • By entering the competition individuals and teams are consenting to their content being viewed by other MQMD students and staff, viewed by the audience at the live event, and displayed on MUMS social media platforms. Other uses of content will not occur without the consent of participants.

  • The decision of the judges in any semi-finals and at the live event is final and no appeals will be allowed.

  • The competition opens on the 24th of May 2024 and entries must be recieved by 11.59pm on the 31st of August 2024.
